South Carolina GOP Makes It Abundantly Clear They Care More About Rapists and Molesters than Women
SCDP Chairman Trav Robertson, Jr. released the following statement:
“Every woman in this state should look at the barbaric action that the Republican Legislature took today. Instead of siding with the rights of victims, they have once again chosen to support the rights of child molesters and rapists. They have agreed to forcing a victim of sexual assault to get a vaginal probe and permission from a sheriff before she makes a choice to terminate a pregnancy that is the result of hatred and violence.
This illustrates a key difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans do not believe women should have choices. They openly support those who force pregnancy on women as a result of violent and heinous acts. They consistently vote against healthcare for victims of sexual assault/abuse, and refuse to adequately fund mental healthcare access. The South Carolina Republicans are making it abundantly clear that they are pro-birth, not pro-life, particularly when it comes to the well-being of women.”
