Columbia, SC— South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement on State Sen. Joel Lourie’s retirement from the South Carolina State Senate.
“State Senator Joel Lourie is a good friend and an exemplary public servant. His many years of service to the state of South Carolina in both the House and Senate, coupled with his family’s legacy of service to our state, make his retirement from the legislature bittersweet. Joel will definitely be missed. Nonetheless, the Party looks forward to a robust primary to determine the Democratic nominee and ultimately electing the next Democratic Senator for the 22nd Senate District.”
