COLUMBIA, SC — Just before Labor Day weekend, South Carolina Democrats recognize the contributions of America’s workers and thank the Biden-Harris Administration for putting working families at the forefront of their Build Back Better agenda. The plan includes lowering costs of essential resources for working South Carolinians like child care and health care, cutting taxes for workers, and creating good paying union jobs.
Earlier this summer, President Biden and Democrats delivered a historic tax cut for working families. The Child Tax Credit provides relief of up to $1,600 per child to the families of 1 million children, lifting 68,000 South Carolina children out of poverty. Our economy is growing at the fastest rate we have seen in nearly 40 years and thanks to the American Rescue Plan, Americans are getting back on their feet.
“While Republicans in Congress will only support tax cuts for the rich, Democrats are delivering real relief for working families in South Carolina,” said SCDP Chair Trav Robertson, Jr. “While every South Carolina Republican voted against tax cuts for South Carolina workers, Democrats continue to fight for policies that make life better for working families including paid family leave, raising the minimum wage, and improving our state’s infrastructure.”
