South Carolina Democratic Party Statement on the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic and County Party Conventions

Columbia, SC — The South Carolina Democratic Party released the following information regarding closures and scheduling updates on Party events in light of the  COVID-19 Coronavirus situation in South Carolina:

“The South Carolina Democratic Party is closely monitoring the COVID-19 coronavirus situation. The health and safety of South Carolinians is our top priority. After working extensively with the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee and our county parties, we have postponed the remainder of our County Conventions scheduled for the month of March.

The SCDP is working with county party chairs to reschedule their convention and to provide new and updated procedures. It is our priority to ensure that every South Carolinian who wants to be involved in this process has the opportunity to be included.”

In addition, the South Carolina Democratic Party is taking the following preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of Party staff and volunteers:

  • Staff are telecommuting and are available by email and phone.
  • The South Carolina Democratic Party Headquarters will be closed to the public  through March 31, 2020.
  • Please check with County Parties for cancellations and changes to their events and regularly scheduled meetings.
