COLUMBIA, SC – Today, Members of the South Carolina House Democratic Caucus successfully led the charge to table a bill that would have undermined Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives across our state.
This temporary victory is not just about protecting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion—it’s about standing up for the people these efforts uplift every day: our veterans transitioning to civilian life, families whose children learn differently, and new mothers returning to work after maternity leave.
Chair Christale Spain issued the following statement:
“Today’s action shows the power of standing together for what’s right. House Democrats are not just fighting for Black South Carolinians—they’re fighting for veterans, students, working mothers, and women. Actually, House Democrats are fighting for all of us. This is what equity looks like in action, and South Carolina is better for it.”
