REMINDER: Tim Scott Sides With Corporations Over Working People on Eliminating Junk Fees
COLUMBIA, S.C. — As President Biden delivers remarks on his administration’s work to protect consumers from hidden junk fees and put more money back in the pockets of everyday Americans, here is your reminder that Tim Scott would rather side with corporations to place unnecessary financial burdens on everyday Americans than work across the aisle to cut costs.
Tim Scott has a long history of fighting on the side of corporations at the expense of working South Carolinians – opposing getting rid of junk fees and uplifting plans that would bring financial harm to the Palmetto State:
- Scott mocked President Biden’s plan to get rid of the hidden fees burdening working families, calling it “socialism.”
- Scott said the 2017 GOP tax plan should be made permanent. This is the same tax plan that has done more to help South Carolina’s wealthiest rather than deliver major tax cuts for low-income families.
- And Scott has a long and consistent record of backing plans to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block that would harm our vulnerable communities in our state – seniors and people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris administration is committed to eliminating the junk fees that have saddled everyday Americans for years.
- After pledging to do more to fight junk fees in his State of the Union address, corporations like Ticketmaster and Live Nation will visit the White House today to commit to transparent pricing.
