“South Carolinians remember what our education system was like under Nikki Haley — underfunded schools and a history of the governor turning her back on rural and poor school districts contributed to South Carolina having the worst-ranked education system in the country. Now, Haley wants to bring her MAGA, anti-public school agenda nationwide,” said South Carolina Democratic Party Spokesperson Alyssa Bradley. “As she travels the state this week, Nikki Haley needs to answer for the years she spent undermining the public education system that millions of South Carolina kids rely on every day.”
As Nikki Haley returns to South Carolina, she should be asked three simple questions:
- Would you push back against funding for poor and rural students at the federal level like you did as South Carolina’s governor?
- Would you try to abolish the Department of Education as president, which you opened the door to recently?
- Do you oppose federal gun safety laws that could protect children in the classroom like you did in the wake of horrific school shootings?
