SCDP Statement on Republicans Voting Against Flood Recovery Funding

Dec 19, 2015

Columbia, SC – Yesterday, South Carolina U.S. Representatives Mark Sanford, Jeff Duncan, and Mick Mulvaney, along with U.S. Senator Tim Scott voted against a budget which included flood recovery funds for South Carolina. SCDP Executive Director Jason Perkey released the following statement in response to their votes against federal recovery funding for South Carolina.
Representatives Sanford, Duncan, Mulvaney and Senator Tim Scott have not just turned their backs on those most in need, they have told South Carolina families that they do not care if or when we ever recover from the disaster of the October floods. Their votes show that they are more focused on upholding a radical and out-of-touch political ideology than helping the families, businesses, and property that they were elected to serve. We will remind voters of their betrayal to their fellow South Carolinians in next year’s elections.”
