Columbia, SC – South Carolina Democratic Party Executive Director Jason Perkey issued the following statement on U.S. Representative Trey Gowdy’s endorsement of Republican presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio in Iowa today.
“Today, Representative Trey Gowdy campaigns in Iowa alongside Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio. Like Senator Rubio, Rep. Gowdy also opposed reauthorizing the Ex-Im bank costing Greenville almost 400 jobs.
“From leading the politically motivated Benghazi hearings, wasting millions in taxpayer funds, to voting against a bill to fund desperately needed infrastructure improvements, Trey Gowdy cares more about promoting himself on the national stage than working to improve the lives of his constituents in South Carolina.”
