SCDP Statement on Nikki Haley Filing for the South Carolina Republican Primary

Oct 30, 2023

As Nikki Haley files to be on the South Carolina Republican primary ballot, South Carolina Democratic Spokesperson Alyssa Bradley released the following statement:

“Nikki Haley was an extremist as South Carolina governor, and she would be an extremist in the Oval Office. Her dangerous rhetoric on the presidential campaign trail — supporting a national abortion ban, promoting an economic agenda to serve the wealthy instead of working families, and pushing to end Social Security and Medicare as we know them — is just another iteration of her South Carolina governorship, where she signed an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, tried to eliminate the state’s corporate income tax to benefit corporations over working families, and supported Paul Ryan’s plan to gut vital government programs. South Carolinians haven’t forgotten that record, and we’ll make sure the rest of the nation knows all about it, too.”
