SCDP STATEMENT ON IMPRESSIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS BY THE PERSON FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN
Columbia, SC – South Carolina Democratic Party Policy & Communications Director Matthew Ellison released the following statement today on the announcements by the Person for Congress campaign that it surpassed the $400,000 milestone in just 4 months by raising $225,686 in the second quarter and has been designated an Emerging Race by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC):
“More and more people are realizing that Fran Person is the right Congressman for the 5th District and that he can win. This week’s announcements mean that Fran’s campaign will have the resources to go toe-to-toe with incumbent Mick Mulvaney, who recently bemoaned his job in Washington as ‘frustrating and sometimes meaningless’ because he is incapable of working across the aisle to deliver results for 5th District families. Fran has shown himself to be a fierce competitor, a selfless teammate, and a dignified opponent. He will fight harder and more effectively and will find common ground to level the playing field so that 5th District workers can compete and win. Now more than ever, I am confident that 5th District voters will share this view in November.”
