SCDP STATEMENT ON HOUSE DEMOCRATS’ SIT-IN DEMANDING VOTE ON COMMON-SENSE GUN SAFETY

Columbia, SC – South Carolina Democratic Party Policy & Communications Director Matthew Ellison released the following statement today on the sit-in being staged by House Democrats on the House floor to demand a vote on common-sense gun safety measures:

“We are proud of House Democrats, especially South Carolina’s own Congressman Clyburn, for holding the floor to demand a vote on common-sense gun safety measures. We wish the Republicans in our state’s House delegation were as courageous. If House Republicans refuse to hold a vote, they will be doing a disservice to the American people, who have waited too long for meaningful action. And if there is no bill, the House has no business taking a break next week when the rest of America will be hard at work.”
