SCDP Slams Lindsey Graham for Voting for GOP Tax Bill at the Expense of our Children’s Future
Columbia, S.C. — Today, Trav Robertson, South Carolina Democratic Party Chair, released the following statement two weeks before the anniversary of the passage of the GOP tax scam bill criticizing Lindsey Graham for voting for the law which raised the national debt at the expense of our children.
“Lindsey Graham has left South Carolina’s children to shoulder the burden of our national debt,” Robertson said. “Unfortunately, that’s exactly what Lindsey Graham did when he pushed the GOP Tax Bill through the United States Senate. And instead of supporting programs like food assistance, Medicaid, housing and education investments which all support our children, Lindsey Graham decided to support a law which puts these programs at risk. He only cares about pleasing his wealthy donors, not the South Carolinians he was elected to represent.”
Lindsey Graham voted in favor of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. According to the Campaign for Children, the bill stripped the Child Tax Credit from over one million children. The bill added $1.9 trillion to the deficit which could force massive tax hikes on our children.
