Columbia, SC—South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement regarding Republican Presidential candidate and Florida Senator Marco Rubio attending South Carolina Senator Tim Scott’s Town Hall today.
It’s no surprise that on a day dedicated to celebrating the contributions of workers, Senators Scott and Rubio are holding a town hall discussing policies that would cripple South Carolina’s working families.
“Senator Rubio has routinely opposed raising the minimum wage and defended tax breaks and loopholes for the very wealthy, while increasing taxes and fees on the middle class. Senator Rubio continues to pander to the Republican base of wealthy special interests instead of doing what’s right for working families.”
