Lehman Brothers Alum Jeb Bush Visits on Heels of Wall St. Reform Anniversary

Jul 22, 2015

Columbia, SC– South Carolina Democratic Party Executive Director Jason Perkey issued the following statement regarding Republican Presidential candidate and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s campaign visit to the Palmetto State.

“On the heels of the fifth anniversary of the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act being signed into law–a law essential in protecting middle class Americans and the nation from future financial crisis–Jeb Bush has doubled down on his opposition to oversight of the very same financial institutions that led our nation into its biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression, costing millions of Americans their jobs and in some cases their homes. He simply doesn’t believe in holding big corporate tycoons accountable.

“Over the years, Gov. Bush had the ear of not one but two presidents and had ample opportunity to change the culture in the Republican Party that favors wealthy special interests. Instead, Gov. Bush has fully embraced the Republican economic agenda that prioritizes big corporations and their profits over the interests of working and middle class families.”
