Henry McMaster and the Legislature Must Start Proceedings to Remove Alan Wilson from Office

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina Democratic Party Chair today pressed Governor Henry McMaster and Joe Wilson to call for the resignation of Attorney General Alan Wilson after a two year state grand jury investigation concluded that Wilson impeded a probe into his political allies and put his loyalty to the Quinn family over  his “duty and obligation to the citizens of South Carolina to respect and enforce the State’s laws.” Joe Wilson held press conference after press conference in 1986 lambasting the good-ol’- boy network and Henry McMaster likes to talk about ethics reform. If they truly believed what they said, they would call on the Attorney General to resign and  Henry McMaster and the State Legislature would kick of proceedings to remove Wilson from office.

“Alan Wilson obstructed an investigation to protect his political buddies who broke the law. He has yet to distance himself or his campaign from the Quinns and is paying a shell company over $300,000 even after the indictments,” said Robertson. “Henry McMaster and the Legislature must start the proceedings for Alan Wilson’s removal from office.”
