In response to SC GOP Sheriffs endorsing Alan Wilson for Governor, South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain released the following statement:
“Today, Alan Wilson’s campaign for Governor was endorsed by 22 Republican sheriffs. Here are the facts: While Alan Wilson has been our Attorney General, South Carolina’s murder rate reached a 30-year high. Weapons violations have risen every year Alan Wilson has been in office.
Just last year, South Carolina had among the worst crime rates in the United States and ranked as the eighth-worst state for violent crime and the 10th least safest state in the country.
You are safer if you live in 40 other states.
If anyone is looking for a governor who’s tough on crime, Alan Wilson isn’t it.”
