SCDP Chair Robertson: McMaster Must Return SCANA Money Now
Another SCANA Scandal: Executives Hid “Potential Fraud”
Columbia, S.C. – New reporting from the Charleston Post and Courier today outlined how SCANA executives uncovered a million-dollar bid-rigging scheme during the construction of their two South Carolina nuclear reactors. They never reported it to state and federal law enforcement because they didn’t want “negative publicity.”
SCE&G ratepayers have already shelled out $2 billion to bail out the failed V.C. Summer nuclear project.
Statement from SCDP Chair, Trav Robertson:
“SCANA has perpetrated a fraud against the people of South Carolina. Embracing SCANA cash reeks of corruption and we deserve to know where Henry McMaster stands. Enough is enough – the Governor must return this money. If he declines to do so again, he owes us all an explanation for why not.
Henry McMaster got at least $115,000 in SCANA contributions. Then-Chief Executive Kevin Marsh gave $2,500 and ten of the utility’s top executives gave $16,500 to McMaster.
