The Spratt Issues Conference Keynote Speaker: Rev. Leah Daughtry

Ms. Daughtry served as the CEO of the 2008 and 2016 Democratic National Conventions, making her the first person in Democratic Party history to hold the position twice.  She was responsible for the planning and execution of all aspects of these conventions; the results spoke for themselves.

She also previously served as Chief of Staff of the Democratic National Committee, where she created Faith In Action, our party’s outreach program to communities of faith.  This outreach had an impact, and Ms. Daughtry was named by Religion News Service as one of of 12 most influential Democrats in the nation on faith and values politics and served as resident Fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics, where she focus on the role of faith and values in American politics.  As Democrats in South Carolina, we know how important this outreach is, and we look forward to hearing her insight.

Ms. Daughtry’s service to our party doesn’t stop there; she still serves at an at-large member of the DNC and a member of its Rules and Bylaws Committee.  Previously, she held various posts in the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Congress.

Leah Daughtry’s roles and accomplishments extend far beyond politics.  She is President and CEO of On These Things, LLC, which provides strategic planning, event management, community engagement, and organizational development consulting services to a broad array of businesses and organizations.  She launched BCT Consulting Group, LLC, which brings together best-in-the-business talent to create, manage, and produce high-profile, mission critical events, such as the Closing Ceremonies of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.  A fifth generation pastor, she is pastor of The House of Lord Church in Washington, DC and serves as Jurisdictional Elder of the Southeast Region. She is also on the Executive Committee of the National Council of Negro Women.
