Tell GOP State Legislators: We Need More Gun Safety, Not Less

Apr 06, 2017

Last night, after fast-tracking the process to avoid serious debate, the SC House passed a bill that would allow firearms to be carried without a permit.  This would eliminate the training requirement that is currently in place to ensure safety.

South Carolina has suffered enough from the anything-goes mentality when it comes to gun safety (or the lack thereof).  We need to make firearm usage more safe, not less.

We need to hold the House members who voted for this misguided legislation accountable.  Click here to see how your representative voted, and then call them to either thank them if they voted no or let them know you aren’t pleased if they voted yes.

Fortunately, we can still stop this bad bill in the Senate.  But we have to let our senators know that it’s not just the NRA that’s watching; regular people who have simply had enough are watching too.  So call your senator to express your strong opposition.

And when you call our legislators, don’t just tell them not to make the problem worse; tell them thatdoing nothing is unacceptable too.  We need universal background checks with no loopholes.

Let’s stop the General Assembly from moving in the wrong direction on gun safety.  Then let’s move in the right direction so we can save lives.
