We are pleased to begin our new “Legislator Spotlight” series, which will introduce (or re-introduce) you to our great Democratic members of the South Carolina General Assembly, with a different legislator each week. First up is House Democratic Leader Todd Rutherford.
Representative Rutherford has represented District 74 in Richland County for the past 18 years. A native of Columbia, Rutherford received his B.A. degree from Howard University in 1992 and continued on to obtain his J.D. in 1996 from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association currently practices at the Rutherford Law Firm. He is a national board member of the NAACP Special Contributions Fund and serves on the House Judiciary and Legislative Oversight Committees.
