Voter Registration Organizer

REPORTS TO: Organizing Director

DEPARTMENT: Organizing

LOCATION: South Carolina

PAY RATE: $20 per hour – 40 hour per week.

The South Carolina Democratic Party is seeking qualified applicants to apply for a Voter Registration Organizer position with our team for our 2021 continuous organizing program.  South Carolina Democatic Party is committed to a three-month pilot project with the possibility for extension. Candidates with both previous organizing experience and different work experience are encouraged to apply. Voter Registration Organizers will report to the Organizing Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Talk to and register voters.
  • Plan community events to engage new registrants and volunteers.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and retain volunteers in their assigned area. 
  • Conduct Direct Voter Contact (DVC) when necessary to hit goals.
  • Implement voter contact plans, volunteer engagement strategies, and overall timelines.
  • Build and maintain volunteer teams.
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly DVC goals are met and exceeded.
  • Utilize technological platforms such as Votebuilder to maintain data integrity and consistency.
  • Proactively move to address potential challenges to programmatic success.
  • Build community relationships and gain feedback on potential concerns or issues during both election cycles and non-election cycles.
  • Provide both quantitative and qualitative reports to the organizing director and assigned area leaders, detailing success and areas for improvement in their areas.
  • Serve as on the ground contact for local parties and community organizations, as necessary.
  • Serve as a passionate and professional ambassador for democratic party values.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteers in an assigned geographic area.
  • Additional duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements and Preferences:

  • Prior campaign experience as an organizer, intern, or volunteer preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Votebuilder, relational organizing, and P2P texting tools preferred, but not required
  • Significant door-to-door canvassing and in-person events expected in compliance with health and safety recommendations due to COVID-19.
  • General knowledge of Google Apps Suite, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Access to reliable transportation – travel will be required with a valid driver’s license
  • Access to cell phone and laptop.
