October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. South Carolina is #1 in rate of women murdered by men. Our program will cover the scope of this problem, its underlying causes, role of law enforcement, availability of shelters/services for women and children, and what legislative changes are needed in Columbia. Guest speakers include Vicki Bourus, Georgetown Family Justice Center; Julia Castillo, Life Line Domestic Violence Program; and Detective Lester Cook, Myrtle Beach Police Department. All are welcome to attend.
