The monthly meeting of the Aiken County Democratic Party will be on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Aiken County Council building, 736 Richland Ave at 7:00 pm. Christine Johnson, the Executive Director of South Carolina Equality will be talking about school bullying and efforts to raise awareness about this serious issue. This will be a non-partisan discussion of the bipartisan bill, S. 566: The Safe School Climate Act, that is currently under consideration in the South Carolina General Assembly, will strengthen the 2006 Safe Schools Act. School bullying has become epidemic in the past few years, where vulnerable children are targeted for possessing any number of distinguishing characteristics. Please join us for this important conversation on efforts to reduce incidents of school bullying.
