WHERE IS GOVERNOR MCMASTER’S FAILED VACCINE ROLLOUT AS NEW STRAIN OF COVID ATTACKS SC?
Columbia, S.C.— Today, the people of South Carolina are demanding Governor Henry McMaster take intentional action to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the State and new variants.
As the Coronavirus death toll in South Carolina approaches 7,000, and medical officials scramble to determine the number of undetected coronavirus variant infections, the Governor must present the State with a comprehensive plan to end transmission of the virus in our State and expedite vaccinations to South Carolina’s most vulnerable residents.
“The taxpayers of this state deserve an accelerated and more focused response to this crisis,” said SCDP Chair, Trav Robertson, Jr. “Henry: Quit with the lofty platitudes, do something and get to work.”
Ten months into the greatest public health crisis the state has faced in a generation, Governor McMaster has failed to lead, or encourage any of his fellow republicans in the State House, to enact legislation to mitigate the spread. Adding insult to injury, he has successfully botched the rollout of vaccines, refusing to employ the national guard or county health departments to aid in vaccinating people. Families, essential workers, educators, and everyday South Carolinians who have been economically impacted due to the coronavirus deserve better.
