COLUMBIA, S.C. — After previously stating he would sign the “most conservative ban possible” as president, Tim Scott made his dangerous anti-abortion stance even clearer today when he said South Carolina’s newly passed 6-week abortion ban is “good news.”
Considering his already extreme record on abortion in the senate, it’s no surprise he would stand with MAGA South Carolina Republicans and support legislation that bans abortion before many women know they’re pregnant, punishes rural citizens who already face insurmountable barriers to health care, and forces victims of rape and incest to share details of their stories to elected officials to get the care they need. This does nothing to “protect” South Carolinians.
