South Carolina Democrats Announce Dr. Miguel Cardona, Congressman Ro Khanna as Special Guests for 2023 Spratt Issues Conference in Charleston

Oct 23, 2023

The South Carolina Democratic Party is thrilled to announce Dr. Miguel Cardona, Biden-Harris 2024 campaign surrogate and Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17) as the special guest speakers during the first weekend of our 2023 Spratt Issues Conference: First in the Nation: The Road to the White House Goes Through South Carolina taking place on October 28 in Charleston, South Carolina.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain and South Carolina Democratic Party Executive Director Jay Parmley released the following statement about the October conference:

“We’re honored to have Dr. Miguel Cardona and Congressman Ro Khanna speak to our Democratic community at the first 2023 Spratt Issues Conference as we come together in anticipation of our first in the nation primary and energize our base — Not only as we work toward beating the 2024 MAGA agenda, but to unite us in our efforts to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We’re thrilled to have Dr. Cardona and Congressman Khanna inspire our members with their insights and perspectives.”

The 2023 Spratt Issues Conferences will take place over three weekends in Charleston, Spartanburg, and Columbia where Democrats from across the state will gather to discuss critical issues affecting the Palmetto State and equip our activists and party leaders with information about the tremendous accomplishments of Democrats as we gear up to send President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris back to the White House and elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024.

About our speakers:

Dr. Cardona has two decades of experience as a public-school educator from Meriden, Connecticut, the same school system he attended as a child. Dr. Cardona’s focus throughout his career on raising the bar for equity and excellence in education for all learners has guided his leadership over the years in service to Connecticut and the nation’s students, ranging from prekindergarten to adult learners, and their families.

Congressman Ro Khanna was elected to Congress in 2016 and is now serving his third term representing California’s 17th District, which covers communities in Silicon Valley. He is the Chair of the Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment and a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform, Agriculture, and Armed Services Committees. In Congress, Khanna is a progressive voice working to create good jobs and opportunities for people in the 17th district and across the country.

Details about future conferences in Spartanburg and Columbia will be released soon.
