Columbia, SC– South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison issues the following statement regarding former Pennsylvania Senator and current Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s visit to the Palmetto State.
“It’s no surprise Senator Rick Santorum is in Columbia to talk about fossil fuels since his domestic policies are from the Stone Age. Senator Santorum has routinely criticized families with two parents working outside the household, repeatedly opposed the Family Medical Leave Act and the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and once compared marriage equality to the war on terrorism.
“Senator Santorum even went as far as saying that to reduce domestic violence we should encourage women to marry. His archaic responses to the modern challenges working families face make it clear that he is out of touch with the struggles of everyday South Carolinians.”
