South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain issued the following statement in response to Nikki Haley’s latest anti-choice attack:
“Donald Trump and Nikki Haley have spent every day on the campaign trail staking out extreme positions, promising national abortion bans, and leaving families across the country in fear of what rights they’ll advocate ripping away next. Let’s be clear: Donald Trump is responsible for these attacks on women’s right to make their own health care decisions – and he and Haley keep proving how dangerous they’d be in office if they get the chance. There’s nothing moderate about Nikki Haley or Donald Trump’s extreme anti-choice agendas, and South Carolinians are fed up with their attacks on reproductive freedoms.”
Here’s a reminder of Haley and Trump’s anti-choice records:
- Trump supports a national abortion ban.
- Trump has bragged about appointing the justices that overturned Roe v. Wade and said, “Without me there would be no [six-week abortion bans].”
- As governor, Haley signed an abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest.
- Haley has also said multiple times on the campaign trail that she would sign a national abortion ban.
