As Tim Scott takes his MAGA agenda to the friendly confines of FOX News tonight, South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain released the following statement:
“Tim Scott has used his campaign to push forward a dangerous, extreme agenda in the 2024 race for the MAGA base, so it’s no surprise his first nationally televised town hall as a presidential candidate is on the friendly confines of FOX News.
“South Carolinians are already all too familiar with Scott’s record — voting with Donald Trump nearly 100% of the time, serving as the ‘architect’ of Trump’s tax breaks for the ultra wealthy, and advocating for a national abortion ban. No matter how many lies he tries to spin tonight during tonight’s town hall, he cannot erase that extreme history.”
Here’s a refresher on Scott’s record ahead of tonight’s town hall:
- Scott called South Carolina’s extreme 6-week abortion ban “good news,” and has committed to signing the most conservative national abortion ban into law if he becomes president.
- It’s been months since Scott entered the 2024 presidential race and he still can’t name a single difference between his platform and Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda. In Congress, Scott voted with Trump nearly 100% of the time.
- Scott proudly touts himself as an “architect” of Trump’s tax breaks for the ultra wealthy at the expense of South Carolina’s working families. The Trump-Scott tax plan rigged the economy for the biggest corporations and real estate developers and is currently adding hundreds of billions of dollars to the national deficit.
