Columbia, SC— The South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement on the announcement that Charleston, South Carolina will host one of the Democratic Presidential Primary debates.
We are pleased to be hosting one of the six DNC sanctioned Democratic Primary debates. Given the recent events in Charleston, co-hosting this debate with the DNC and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend is especially historic. In 2007, South Carolina hosted the first debate and we are proud to continue our tradition of involvement by hosting the last debate before voting begins in the 2016 caucuses and primaries.”
