Columbia, SC—South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement in response to Republican presidential candidate and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s remarks last night.
“Governor Jeb Bush’s comments on African Americans were demeaning and insulting. His remarks are just one of many examples of the Republican Party’s inability to appeal to Americans from all backgrounds. African Americans pay taxes and work hard every day to provide for their families. American voters of all races and ethnicities are looking for leaders who can create jobs, improve our schools, and invest in our infrastructure. Governor Bush should start acting like he’s running for president of all Americans, not just those on the far right.”
