There are reports that congressional Republicans have come to an agreement on a revised version of the American Health Care Act, also known as Trumpcare. The initial version would have taken health insurance away from 24 million Americans. THE NEW VERSION IS EVEN WORSE. The emerging Republican deal would allow states to let insurance companies charge those withpreexisting conditions far more, which would make health care unaffordable for those who need it most.
The estimated cost increases are staggeringly cruel. If you have a child with autism, it will cost you an additional $5,000 a year. If you have breast cancer, that an extra $28,000 out of pocket. Pregnant? That’ll be $17,000 (as long as there are no complications, which would cost more).
