Important Information on May 16 Special Election Primary Runoffs

If you live in the 5th Congressional District and/or State House District 70, please read the information below, provided by the South Carolina State Election Commission:

 

The Congressional District 5 Special Election and the House District 70 Special Election are two separate elections with separate nominating processes, which means voters can make separate choices relating to participating in each nominating process.  This presents some unique options for voters in the State House District 70 part of Sumter County.

 

Options for voters in the State House District 70 part of Sumter County on May 16:

 

In the May 2 Primary, the voter: In the May 16 Runoff, the voters options are to:
Voted in Democratic Primary (U.S. House District 5 and State House District 70) ·       Vote in the Democratic Runoff for State House District 70
Voted in the Republican Primary (U.S. House District 5) ·       Vote in the Republican Runoff for U.S. House District 5, or

·       Vote in the Democratic Runoff for State House District 70, or

·       Both

Did not vote ·       Vote in the Republican Runoff for U.S. House District 5, or

·       Vote in the Democratic Runoff for State House District 70, or

·       Both

 

Options for all voters in U.S. House District 5 outside of House District 70 (Cherokee, Chester, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Newberry, Spartanburg, Sumter (Part), Union and York):

 

In the May 2 Primary, the voter: In the May 16 Runoff, the voters options are to:
Voted in Democratic Primary (U.S. House District 5) ·       No option to vote as there is no Democratic Primary Runoff for U.S. House District 5
Voted in the Republican Primary (U.S. House District 5) ·       Vote in the Republican Primary Runoff for U.S. House District 5
Did not vote ·       Vote in the Republican Primary Runoff for U.S. House District 5
