“UNTO THE LEAST OF THESE, YOU DO UNTO ME…”

Duncan, Norman, Rice, Timmons and Wilson vote to destroy SC Small Businesses and hurt South Carolinians.

Washington, DC— Yesterday, South Carolina Republican Representatives Jeff Duncan, Ralph Norman, Tom Rice, William Timmons and Joe Wilson voted against a stimulus package able to increase direct aid payments to families impacted by COVID-19 from $600 to $2000.

“Each of these men claim to be Christians and celebrated the birth of Christ last week. But the votes they cast are the complete antithesis to the teachings of Christ.  They voted against a  bipartisan piece of legislation to save families across our State, particularly those working in tourism, hospitality, education and healthcare, who through no fault of their own have seen their jobs, businesses and communities interrupted as we try to stop the spread of the virus.” said SCDP Chair, Trav Robertson, Jr. “It’s time to hold Republicans accountable for their religious hypocrisy and for their failed leadership as we enter ten months of the pandemic, with no clear answers for families who are hurting economically. It is laughable that these men consider themselves people of faith.”

South Carolina has had a tradition of our elected officials working across the aisle whenever possible, to do what’s best for the people. Regardless of party, SC Republicans owe it to every single voter, to end this public health crisis and protect businesses and the workers they employ in the interim.
